Dimeo was contracted to selectively demolish all the interior office finishes including floors, walls and ceilings while maintaining all public and “core” areas of the historic Wilde Building. This occupied renovation was completed in “stacked” phases to keep the construction separate from CIGNA employees. The project was originally proposed on a 24 month schedule. Shortly after construction began, CIGNA sold their south building and requested that the entire project be completed in 12 months. This was a highly aggressive schedule, with 150k sf being completed every 8 weeks. Dimeo maintained the fast-track schedule and completed the project within the revised 12 month schedule. The new interior was designed to make use of diffused sunlight and complement the building’s post modern design. A series of straight and stepped soffits were used to define the perimeter “hardwalled” offices, and the fronts of the offices.
