Dimeo served as Construction Manager for the New Fall River Justice Center consisting of a 5-story building in the heart of downtown Fall River. With 5 main floors and a mechanical penthouse, the building is steel framed with metal stud back-up of a cast veneer material. Each floor is approximately 30,000 sf, and includes 9 courtrooms, a law library, associated holding facilities, and administrative areas for the court proceedings.
The project has been designated as a LEED Gold certified building by USGBC.
Designed to LEED Gold standards, the new Fall River Justice Center represents the State of Massachusetts’ commitment to justice as well as community and environment. The design incorporates high efficiency lighting with an emphasis on maximizing the use of natural daylight. From the outset of the project, assessment of the building envelope and engineering systems were based on a life cycle cost analysis. A whole building annual energy simulation conducted during preconstruction resulted in a structure designed to consume approximately 25% less energy than a comparable building. With energy-efficient HVAC systems, an improved building envelope, and good lighting design, this project was completed in the spring of 2010. The entire team was also honored with the Energy Star award at the AIA National Convention in June.
