Dimeo Construction Company was recently awarded the Garden City Elementary School Building project. The project is designed by Fielding International and the new facility will offer compliance with the 21st-century learning needs that meet the current educational program requirement for grade levels K-5 as well as meet or exceed present sustainability and energy codes.
The project includes demolition of the existing +/- 33,000 SF building, followed by the building of a new 85,000 SF building with a max capacity of 575 students, on the existing site. The scope includes site improvements such as but not limited to; student bus and parent drop-off areas, additional parking, new play structures, outdoor learning areas, and plantings. The gas and electrical services will be upgraded with a new generator specified for the project. The project will incorporate a combination of sub-surface and surface stormwater infiltration systems. There is an existing playfield adjacent to the site which will remain in place and will need to be protected during construction.
The new facility will provide a varied combination of learning and community engagement areas, such as learning communities, cafeteria, and gymnasium which also include performance areas.
Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2023.
