Dimeo Construction Company Participates in Food Network's Dinner Impossible Episode
Providence, RI - Dimeo Construction Company recently participated in the Food Network's reality show, Dinner Impossible, with Chef Robert Irvine, at the Natick Collection construction site in Natick, MA. Dimeo is the Construction Manager for the Retail, Residential, & Parking expansion project. This major expansion and renovation project includes 550,000 sf of new retail space on two floors; over 3,600 structured parking spaces on five separate parking decks; 160,000 sf of occupied renovations to the existing mall; and a 215 unit, 457,000 sf residential facility. Dimeo's Marketing Manager, Claudine Stevens, was contacted in April about the possibility of the network filming at one of the construction sites. Dimeo agreed and the rest is history.
About the show:
At the beginning of each episode Chef Robert Irvine gets a "mission" which he must complete within the parameters given. This show is the real thing!-Chef Robert knows nothing of the challenge until the cameras start rolling and must use his wits alone to devise a menu, shop, cook and serve to the awaiting diners.
Taping Day:
On Wednesday, June 20th the teams arrived at the Natick Collection construction site in Natick, MA at 3:30am to begin setting up. Chef Robert Irvine arrived at 4:45am to receive his challenge by Jim Young, Director of Construction for General Growth Properties and by Mario Pagliocca, Superintendent for Dimeo Construction Company.
The Challenge:
The concept of this episode was Robert cooking at a construction site. The Challenge was for Chef Robert Irvine to feed 1,000+ workers his version of a "Brown Bag" lunch by 11:55am. At 4:45am Robert was informed that he will have to do this within the confines of two Salvation Army Canteen Trucks (used for disaster relief). He then had to develop a menu, go purchase food and bring back to the site for preparation. Robert assigned each player a task to complete the mission on time.
The Conclusion:
The taping was a success and over 1,000+ workers were fed a gourmet version of a "brown bag lunch", including two versions of gourmet sandwiches, soup, salad, cole slaw and dessert. This truly was a team effort and with the assistance of several helpers, the Chef completed his mission with 5 minutes to spare. At the end of the taping, Chef Robert Irvine presented the Salvation Army with a check for $1,000.00 on behalf of the Food Network for use of the trucks. The episode is slated to air in late August.
