Blue Cross Blue Shield Headquarters Achieves LEED Gold
The entire project team is proud to announce that the Blue Cross Blue Shield Headquarters in downtown Providence recently achieved a Gold designation under USGBC's LEED Program. The LEED Program (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a green building certification system that measures (among others)energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. The Blue Cross facility achieved 43 out of a possible 69 points for strategies such as storage and collection of recyclables, construction waste management, recycled content, water efficient landscaping, and optimized energy performance, among others. Gold is the second hight attainable certification under the LEED rating sytem and reflects a high level of sensitivity to sustainability and occupant health in the design, construction, and use of the building.
