Daniel Hand High School

New High School
Madison, CT
207,000 sf
Architect: Jeter Cook & Jepson Architects

Dimeo provided Construction Management services for this new high school, designed to fit on an existing site between the athletic fields and adjoining wetlands area. The extremely constricted site supports an efficient, compact facility for 1,250 students. The school consists of 2 separate buildings connected by an enclosed student commons bridge. The academic building offers 152,740 sf of modern academic space including classrooms, 12 science labs, administrative and core space, a 10,800 sf library/media center, a 14,300 sf gymnasium with regulation size basketball court, spaces for music, band, and art, and a 17,160 sf (400 student capacity) multi-purpose cafetorium. There is strong emphasis on technology throughout, so the facility is fully wired for state-of-the-art access and use. The facility was constructed in brick masonry with pre-cast accents and a glass 3rd story.
