This project involved the construction of a new police facility for the University with 911 back-up for the City of New Haven. Although not LEED certified, the building incorporated many sustainable elements such as: a partial glass façade that provides natural light throughout the majority of the interior areas, as well as a sky lit interior court space; shading devices, full double pane insulating glass with low emissivity coatings; and a reflective coating on 50% of the glass; and landscaping designed to utilize indigenous plants and trees. In addition, no CFC's were used in the refrigeration equipment, all wood products conformed with the FSC Certified wood products guidelines, and assembled products contained no formaldehydes; low VOC carpets, paints, and glues were used.
