Designed to LEED Silver standards, the new Fall River Trial Court represents the State of Massachusetts' commitment to justice as well as community and environment. The design incorporates high efficiency lighting with an emphasis on maximizing the use of natural daylight. From the outset of the project, assessment of the building envelope and engineering systems were based on a life cycle cost analysis. A whole building annual energy simulation conducted during preconstruction resulted in a structure designed to consume approximately 25% less energy than a comparable building. With energy-efficient HVAC systems, an improved building envelope, and good lighting design, this project is scheduled to complete in early 2010.
