When planning their new call center, data center, and parking garage, CVS/Caremark set out to achieve LEED Silver. Currently in construction, the project includes: roofing composed of 100% high solar reflectant material: low-emitting choices for office furniture (Greenguard certified), carpeting, paints, adhesives, etc.; showers/changing areas and bicycle storage as well as parking for fuel efficient vehicles; a comprehensive recycling program; and landscaping that consists of native vegetation and no irrigation system required. The majority of office spaces have a view to natural lighting - even throughout the call center, which is not common in those spaces, and with high energy efficiency lighting, occupancy sensors, and HVAC systems, energy use is about 25% more efficient than the baseline for this building type.
