Glens Falls Lehigh Cement
Port & Cement Distribution Facility

Architect: Lehigh Valley Technical Associates
Dimeo served as Construction Manager to build a cement distribution facility at the Port of Providence, working within an aggressive thirteen-month schedule. The 44,000 ton storage facility was encased in a 140 ft-diameter, 112 ft. tall, polyester-core, PVC-coated fabric dome that stores Turkish-manufactured cement. This was the first time such a dome had been integrated with a vacuum floor system. The dome was inflated using fans, sprayed with a two-inch thick layer of polyurethane insulation on the inside for rigidity, and then overlapped with rebar and shotcrete.
